Can You Train Your Cat?

Can You Train Your Cat?

Hi Everyone,

You're all probably wondering, can you train your cat?

YES!!

It is very possible with the right techniques and some patience! Of course, training a pet can take a lot of nerve, motivation, and persistence. The right guide is crucial!!

Some people think training cats is impossible. I can definitely see why one could come to that conclusion! Face it- felines are very independent and can convince anyone they are not trainable; but they are!

I want to introduce you to a young woman named Liz Barton. Liz found several feral, flea-ridden kittens on a friend's farm in Texas. Her heart went out to them, and even though she knew next to nothing about cats, she set out to rescue these 11 feral kittens. She studied, researched, and learned all she could on kitties, then set out to training!

Through trial and error, she came up with a consistent and successful way of not only training them but she also gained their trust and became well-adjusted, well-behaved family members!

I know how it can seem unrealistic- but its not. I encourage you to click on the following link to see who Liz is and what she has to say.

Learn by Liz's trial & error; she's already done the research, the footwork and taken all the scratches! Hopefully her training manual will spare you a few of those scratches.

Cats are so wonderful to have as pets. There is ONE secret of my own I'm going to share with you!

Here goes!

Are you aware that us humans are NOT the pet picker? The animal is the one that picks you as the pet- not the way we've always perceived it!

Think about it- if an animal doesn't appear to care for you but you insist on picking that one for your pet, how well does that animal respond to you before you start working on winning them over?

This has been my experience with animals. I'm one of those people that animals are attracted to, for the most part. Cats mainly; dogs like me too but I think they can feel my apprehensiveness (I do get nervous or uncomfortable around some dogs). Raccoons seem to be comfortable around me too.

I do not suggest trying to befriend raccoons though! They are too wild, too smart, and too unpredictable! In fact, if you live in the country as I do and have wooded areas around your home, you probably have raccoons. It's considered (in the long run) cruel & unusual punishment to feed raccoons because once you do, they'll come to you for food before searching on their own.

I found this out by feeding my cats on the porch, only to discover about a whole year later that I'd been feeding the raccoons in the neighborhood- apparently long enough for a few mothers to teach their babies to go to Carol's house, her cats don't care if you eat their food at night!

Oh my goodness- I had no idea what I'd started! Do you see now why it's considered cruel and unusual punishment to get a raccoon used to you feeding them? Because they will count on you! I have a few smaller ones on my porch every night now, and if there's no food like they're used to, they hang out, looking under things as they knock them over, and make a bunch of racket! They crawl half way in the cat door and watch me as I work on my computer, waiting ever-so-impatiently to bring them food! What a mess. Don't get caught up with the raccoons!

My name is Carol McCrow and I live in the Pacific Northwest. I work at home both as caregiver to my live-in mom and as an independent affiliate and advertiser online. I enjoy meeting others online that are doing similar work. I have much to accomplish yet and am working hard to keep focused and stay on a positive road toward success. I also have an overwhelming compassion for animals- especially the ones we domesticate and teach to rely on us. It means EVERYTHING to me that our pets get the quality care they deserve and need.
